G took her first steps on Wednesday - major milestone!!! She is so proud - big brother L captured it on video - he's so proud. Now we're in big trouble!
Can't get over how much they are changing - big fights in the family room. Turf wars over L's toys. He's pretty good at sharing, but G is getting very demanding. She's a feisty one, that girl.
L is wiggling his loose tooth - daily updates forecast that it should probably fall out before he hits 6. Can't believe our big baby is going to be such a big boy so soon!
Still going on many mom dates - internet connecting, mommy dating is addictive. So I'm thinking about going on the MOM show with the kids. Nothing like trying something completely different. Maybe I should get a major makeover before I contemplate going on TV. The kids would be beautiful, me I'm sure NOT!
Keep getting calls from the head hunters about going back to work. Still I'm torn - yikes - want to enjoy being off but shopping and guilt keep creeping back. Keep me away from TCP, H&M , baby Gap, MiniMexx, Gymboree ... can't walk by without walking in. How can you say no to $2.99 for a boy's LS Tee? You can't!!

Hair coloring - not as easy as mascara
As I pull up my head from the sink and notice that my entire skull including face is red, the thought finally occurs to me that this is why you spend a couple hundred bucks at the salon to let someone else do it for you. I finally decided to get rid of the grey creeping onto my temples. I've been in major denial about hitting 40, what with buying a dozen pairs of jeans that all hit below the belly button (so what if the skin flap overflows a little - you can't be totally unscathed after 2 kids). Bought for pure comfort factor, but notice that most of my tops are now 'crop" - not because I was such a hussy before but just that the waistline on my pants are going lower. I knew I had a long torso but this is ridiculous.
So back to the hair. The allover colour was fairly straightforward - only I proceeded to wreck the arms of my glasses during the process. Should have foiled the suckers! Alas, also got the stuff on the walls, and good thing I was wearing one of Ian's old company shirts. It took a licking as well.
The highlights were another story. Looked like icing, smelled like ammonia, difficult to decide what was a more dramatic (skunky rather than skanky) look or a subtle highlight. Of course as soon as all is washed off and finally dried - looks almost the same as before. 2 hours after the supposed 40 minute procedure began.
Let's hope it looks good in the sun at least! Maybe I'll match G's colour - one can always dream. Not as easy as mascara - but then I don't wear that either!

Art for the suburbanites
We actually BOUGHT some original artwork today at Art Interiors. A couple of contemplative oils titled "Forward Motion" . Managed to do this amidst L's whining about being tired, and G being her cute little self - at least she's not quite walking yet so couldn't toddle around and destroy the art.
Lisa looks the same - can't believe she's got the 2 little ones now herself. Younger son is around G's age - G's 1 week older.
Very excited about the pieces. L was most excited about the huge bubblewrap, which he promptly began to crackle as soon as we got home.
Darn problems with the modem. It's apparently the line. Hope it clears up so I can be more regular with the blog.
Have been hooked on the net joining all sorts of moms groups. Should be interesting once I start meeting some of them. Can't say I've felt this old in years ... most mom's are in 20's and early 30's. Better get cracking on the hair colouring. Wish me luck!

OK.. gross .. let' catch up with the kids!
... so the kids are having a great time in the bath, splashing,
laughing, hahaha, chortle, chortle ... then G turns red, leans
forward and L says:
" Is G having a POO?" so Mommy leans her forward a bit more and
checks down there with her HAND and EEEEEEUUUUUUHH!
Out with the kids, out with the toys, fun logging expedition for Mommy
ensues.
Kids finished the bath in parents' tub.
I think I should leave bath duties to Dad.
Who happens to be away again! G is now a busy, busy 14.5 month old toddler, who likes to climb and beat up on almost 6 year old Liam. I keep telling L to keep his face out of her way. He seems to like the abuse.
Settling in to the SAHM thing quite easily now. Regular playdates are de rigeur. The politics of playdates are the big issue now. How do you keep track of who you've had back, who you've got to invite, how to avoid the kids who aren't sweethearts but whose parents are?
I'm going to try to keep this daily blog up as my pseudo journal. I'm hoping I'll be able to look back and say - this is what I was doing when....
Read about a 41 year old woman who remembers everything to the day - her life keeps running like an ongoing movie. Don't know if I'd like that - there are some parts of my life (ie. junior high, early high school) which I would just as soon forget.
Went to the Comrags fashion show with Val on Tuesday. Had dinner at San, cute little Korean place designed by Val's friend. So uber cool, so not me! I couldn't concentrate on the show, the models looked like they could be my daughters, very bored. Kept focusing on the one girl's hair - I need a haircut so badly it's not funny. You know it's bad when your husband notices it needs a cut.
Well, must go, the fabulous miss G is wailing. That was my break!
