Take the batteries out of the remote, and leave it in another room...does the fan still freak out? Then at least you'd know if it's the remote or the fan. Don't know if it helps to know...it would help me a bit. Like if it's the remote, you might be able to get it replaced. Or clean out the battery area or something.

Okay, now I'm freaking out about BlogHer--no cool purse, no decent shoes, no money to buy new ones. I'm going to be a fashion outcast, unfortunately...

On a serious note, I wish you would have an electrician look at the wiring of that fan; if it acts crazy like that, it could indicate some kind of wiring problem that could lead to a fire.
