Weekly Winners - Message for Grandpa
Not many this week.
We've brought my son to see his Grandpa several times in hospital in the last month and he's been okay with it so far. This past week, he was a bit reluctant because it's hard for him to see his Grandpa in this state. And to be honest, it's hard for all of us to see Dad this sick.
But on Friday, he wanted to see him, he missed him, and he knew that his Grandpa would be overjoyed to see him. And his Grandpa was. Over the moon.
My boy was so glad that he visited, even just to sit and smile at his Grandpa. It made both of them feel better.
My daughter, having just turned 4, has not done well at the hospital. She's scared, and it's only natural. She only likes seeing her Grandpa in the natural setting, at his home. So we don't bring her to the hospital anymore, but instead, she makes cards for him.
The one she made yesterday had the above photos in it, with the following message:
"Get better Gong-Gong" (Chinese for Grandpa). "I love you".
He couldn't say much, he was too breathless, but he did whisper that he couldn't believe what a big girl she looks in these shots. He kept opening up the card, closing it, opening it ... as if to memorize its contents. It made him smile.

Your daughter is beautiful... what a wonderful gift she made for her grandfather. Your son is showing great maturity by visiting him even when it's difficult. More prayers for your dad and your family.
So beautiful; the pics, the post. Prayers for you...
I wish I could say or do something other than to let you know that you are in my thoughts. Sending hugs.
Not many, but she's beautiful!
HUGS to you Karen...
She looks adorable.
Both your kids are so beautiful, and I mean on the inside.
This brought tears to my eyes. So touching how much they love their Grandpa and Gong Gong, I love it, what a great name for a grandparent, it's just fun to say.

Your little ones are so sweet and thoughtful. And your daughter really has grown since I last checked in it seems!
I am just catching up with all of the posts I've missed. I am so sorry to hear about your father. Please know that he is in my thoughts and prayers. All of you are.
Be strong Karen =) Do whatever works for the kids.
My son was 2 when my Dad died. And he was 3 when my Mom died and my FIL. We did bring him to the hospital to visit them because he seemed OK with it. we just had to constantly explain to him what was going on.
{{hugs}}
I'm so sorry about how sick your dad is. I'll pray for him.
(she's a beautiful little girl. My kids call their grandpa "Pappy", God help me.)
Awww, hun. Major hugs to you and your family. I think its wonderful that your daughter is sending cards and your son is spending some time. He will remember that time and look back on it fondly.
Your son will remember the good times...oh those moments of the hospital are in his memory, but they will be crowded to the back. My sons (and nephews) are like that with my Dad....the last time we saw him he was walking slowly with an oxygen tank and he was so puffy from the meds he was on....but Issei remembers the jokes...the funny stuff that Grandpa did or said. I'm glad you took your son to see his Grandpa...that time with him is important...for everyone.
Your daughter and her pink tutu are just adorable...what a cutie-patootie!!
Hugs and prayers to you, luv.
Thinking about you.
So touching - the card she made. And especially your boy, what a grown-up, selfless act to go see his grandpa even though its hard for him.
Such lovely people, your kids.
