Fashion Friday - what works?

Now for something completely different.

Working from home certainly has its advantages. You can probably accomplish more in a couple of hours while in your pyjamas and bunny slippers, than if you were in your typical 8 - 5 office environment. If you're so inclined. But occasionally you have to meet the people in the real world.

I worked for a company where the dress code was business casual. I own quite a few suits, for the fall and winter but only primarily for meetings with "external" people. But the last time I was in the office I was, um, quite hugely pregnant.

I have a meeting coming up next week for a potential project. Problem - what to wear?! Did I hear you say "shopping opportunity"? Thought so. You'd be so proud of me... I bought a suit! A navy linen blend pant suit. I just fell in love with the jacket. Too bad there was no matching skirt ... I broke my own fashion rule by not purchasing a complete set of pants and skirt for versatility. But nowadays, anything goes, right?

My question for you: which cami/ top should I wear with it for my meeting? I want to keep it dressed up enough to look professional but not overly business-heavy, in case the company is quite casual. (And thanks to my blog pal Kami for her inspiration on "throwing it all out there for fashion advice" ...)

Here are the options:

a) mod top with geometric print

a bit more close-up:

b) bright pink cami for a flash of personality

c) more subdued tank with green, taupe, white swirls

d) white tank with lacy detail and orange "hello" piping.

Excuse the horrible picture quality. And the fact that I don't do mirrors. The husband took my easy point-and-click digital on his trip to Paris and left me with the kids and his SLR which I have absolutely no clue how to work. As evidenced above.

Happy weekend, hope to see you bloghopping ?!

Oh I LOVE the suit Karen, it's so chic!

Honestly I love all of the tops and I think any one of them would work. For some reason the first geometric one really stands out though!

Any one and you will be one hot momma!

Ha! My pictures in the mirror are FAR worse Karen, you did good!

:-)

I really really love that suit...too bad I have no place to wear something so fancy!

I like the pink cami! (I am like you--I work from home most days and am never sure what to wear when I have to meet a client!)

I like either the first or the last and am leaning toward the last. I think any of them would work.

Have a good weekend - Kellan

Way nice! I love them all; great suit! My fav is c) green or the b) pink.

C) If its a more formal meeting. B) if it's a bit more casual.

Love them all, though!

Karen you look STUNNING in that suit! Absolutely fashionista! So jealous of the body after 2 kids.... lol.

So I vote for the first top - definitely a little more conservative, but with a fun flare in the pattern! Pink is too much, I personally don't like swirls, and the lace is too girly. My opinion! (although the lace would be a good 2nd option!)

Ooooooooooooh la la! Love the suit! To be honest, you look great in anything! Not that I'm much help, eh?

I like the first one A LOT, but they all work well.

What about a nice tie-dye in silk or rayon with a straight neck line?

The suit looks really good--I think you could probably wear anything with it and it would work.

As I typed that I was struck with the thought that you probably don't want your top to detract too much from the suit. Something simple, not too bright. I think I'm going with the geometric top--A.

Thanks, Karen Meg for the nice comment tonight - you're pretty special too and a good friend. Take care - Kellan

I love it! All of the tops are nice. I think it depends on what kind of people you are meeting with, you know? The first one is conservative, the pink is sexy, and the white with orange piping is really artsy.

What is it with husbands stealing our good cameras? Mine is leaving for Germany and my camera is in his bag. I guess I won't be taking any pictures. Now I'd better go to bed because I have to take him to the airport in 5 hours! EEK.

Love the suit!

They all work but I like the pink top...

I would totally go with the swirly tank. I like the pink cami, too, but I think the swirly top is more businessy without being too stuffy.

Love the jacket, too!

I probably already missed this, but I vote for mod top. I have learned the hard way, you must avoid any hint of cleavage...

I like the first one! Wow, great suit. I donated all my corporate wear to a local agency about 3 years ago. I had way more suits than I thought. Now, I can't even contemplate wearing a skirt...it's gotta be pants.

alright, you look too good ... i'm so totally jealous.

i like the pink one... but i'm usually pretty print-shy.
