Moobage?

Little G has been growing into a very girlie girl lately, and she was watching me with interest as I got dressed the other morning.

I had stopped by La Senza a little while ago and brought home a couple of pretty bras as pick-me-ups for spring. Little G picked out the orange and pink polka-dotted number with the pretty frills for me to wear. (The more frills the merrier when you're a sporting the equivalent of terrain of the Prairies as your boobage).

"Mommy, why do you wear a bra?", she asked.

"Well, because Mommy doesn't want to walk around just, well, hanging as it doesn't look so neat and tidy. It looks and feels better under my tops and T-shirts when I wear a bra."

Whew, was that a good answer?

Not that I have much to hang about. In actual fact I didn't want to admit that it was part of my optical illusion to make it look like I have something up there. I don't want to get into that whole body image discussion with her just yet. Hopefully the lack o' rack that her mom inherited will bypass her generation.

"Oh. Well then why doesn't Daddy wear a bra?"

Oh boy.

Next she'll be suggesting a mirdle.

God love her! And a small rack isn't necessarily a bad thing!

Great plan of action actually! Once the push ups stop working, I should look into getting a pushup.

That's awesome! :)

Ha! My aunt used to call it her over the shoulder boulder holder and my mom would laugh and say for her is was more of a pebble holder.

I still remember that and I was probably 6 years old at the time!

Why did this remind me of the old grade school joke--If you didn't have hands, would you wear gloves?

I'm so helplessly immature!

Hah! I have to answer the same questions but this time I'm speaking to a little boy.

Oh bless!! I bet Daddy is doing a double take in the mirror ;-) (Loved BusyDad's comment)

I will never understand this whole obsession with huge boobage... but then, I guess I'm not a man! (Or possibly a gay woman. Or anyone attracted to large boobage.) My mother used to complain all the time about being too flat, and I thought "Hey, bring it on! They get in my way!!" Underwire is an instrument of Satan.

But NO boobage is a bit different! (Not that's you, Miz K-MEG!) Whatever, as long as the woman enlarging/reducing/fluffing/accentuating/adding pasties to the rack isn't just doing it to please a guy, I say, go for it! (Well, apart from from the pasties. I think it'd be fine to put those on solely for the entertainment of your boobless other half.)

And now I want to go buy some pretty bras. My lingerie drawer, such as it is, puts me to shame.I aspire to your bra collection and overall excellent fashion sense.

Man-boobs, however, are a whole OTHER STORY. Perhaps it's time for a post on that!

Oh this was too funny. Our little girls are so alike! The other day, I caught her wearing my bra on her face so she looked like a bee!

Victoria's secret= She gives the allusion that I have a rack, too.

Love it! My girlies love the LaSenza bras and nighties, too. I totally get what you mean when you say the frillier the better to them. They adore shopping there with me - pretty sure I should end that habit soon...

I really liked going braless for awhile. After my lumpectomy the Dr. recommended that I didn't wear a bra for awhile because it tends to rub against my boob where the skin is a bit tender from radiation treatments. I was all yippee! Another plus to this Cancer thing! My boobs are small so don't bounce much, unless I run. Today is my first day of wearing a bra again--oh well.

Happy SITS Day!

My youngest was all embarrassed to get her first "bra" which is really nothing more than a cropped undershirt. She keeps hoping she never has to get anything sturdier!

Ha! Or . . . as Seinfeld said, "A Bro!" Thanks for the laugh this morning. :)

I think you gave a great answer to her question.

It's better than mine - we wear bras because that's what people do. The same reason you wear underwear. I have 2 boys... I'm not sure if that makes explaining these things easier or harder. :)

Crafty Girls Workshop said...

Well, I am glad I won't have to ever explain that to my dogs. But at least I'll know what to say if I ever have kids. Cute, thanks for sharing!

This post made me giggle hysterically!
Don't worry about non-boobage. I have 38DD and I'm only 5'4" and I'm actually sort of small framed. I HATE it... I can't even do the dishes without my back aching. I'm thinking of getting a reduction in the near future.

Leave it to the the innocence of a child to point out the inequities and absurdities of life!

Ha ha!

I hate when I am surprised with questions! I just recently got the "how did a baby get in your belly" question from our four year old son.

Happy SITs. ;)

Cute! Out of the mouths of babes, right? I can't wait till Sebastian starts talking. I'm going to have to learn to watch my mouth because kids say (and repeat) the darndest things.

I know how you feel about trying to make an illusion that you actually have something to flaunt. I get so mad when I see men with bigger boobs than I have...so not fair! And children say the craziest things.

Cute blog by the way and I hope you enjoy your SITS day!!
