That sinking feeling...

Okay, another mundane post about my intensifying renovation. I feel so disorganized, or really, like a chicken with its head cut off.

We've still got so much to do in terms of choosing countertop$, faucet$, the $$$ink, back$pla$h, paint colour$. Poor Ian is driving crazily around town mostly on his own on vacation time, because the kids are just totally hating coming with us on these shopping expeditions. The smart thing to do would have been to put the Liamster into a daycamp for these few weeks, but I'm always so torn about doing that because it's nice not to be so scheduled throughout the summer. Especially when the Dad has booked the time off. We were intending to do more stuff with the kids, but reality of the renovations has really hit us so we're in a bit of a hypermode, as we scramble to get things ordered taking into account any leadtimes that might delay the project.

I feel like I've been sitting on my ass blogging all the time instead of conducting more research and sourcing products... ummmm, oh, well, that might explain things a bit!

On a milestone note, little Ms. G made it across the pool yesterday wearing just her waterwings, not letting me touch her or come within a foot of her while she did her "lap" next to big brother. It was quite amazing as she huffed, puffed and sort of puppy-paddled her way across. We've got the Olympics 2024 in mind for her now.

Hurray for Ms. G! lol... How cute it must have been to see her being such a big girl.

I feel for you and all the work you're going through, and I can understand about the kids; mine don't like to be taken around while shopping for boring stuff like kitchen sinks and stuff like that. Of course, if I take them to the toy isle, I have to beg them to leave five hours later!

Ugh, I know how expensive renovations can be. You never seem to be prepared for just how much everything costs!

CONGRATS to Ms. G! That's a big accomplishment!

Congrats to lil Ms. G!! Fantastic on her swimming skills!!!

Yes, renos do tend to take more time and money than you expect. We're getting our deck redone (can't remember if I told you that before)...and the joke is that the deck builder has been telling us it would be done "tomorrow". Tomorrow comes and it'll be done the next "tomorrow". We are starting to feel like every day is tomorrow and it's like Ground Hog Day repeating over and over. :) Hope yours doesn't linger on like our project! :)

Oh Karen...I can only imagine the feeling. Since my husband is still dragging his feet on renovating...but you have to keep your eyes on the prize at the end of the tunnel!! It is going to be great when everything is done.
BTW - I just love your header and the graphics. Very funny :)
Hang in there!

Yay for the G girl! That is so cute! I want pics next time! She must have been so proud!

Just think of how wonderful your new kitchen is going to look when it's done. We've been doing little things here and there around the house. I contemplated doing everything all at once to get it all done with at the same time, but realistically, we don't have the $$$ to totally reno the place right now. Little by little.....

TTYL!

I feel you on the renovations... we are in the midst of trying to upgrade a few things around the house. My husband and his father just installed our new kitchen sink this past week and ceiling fans in all the bedrooms... now we're on to the windows!
Congrats to your Ms. G!! That is a HUGE thing in the world of swimming!! YEAH!!

Hi Pavel - I've been trying to get the kids to equate Mom's shopping experience with how they feel at Toys r Us. They're not buying it!
Jane, we're so far not straying too far off budget, but it's starting to hurt.
bec - I remember talking about the deck. Hope it's going well. G's having Abby withdrawal.
beachmama - we're looking forward to the end ...so far it's looking pretty good.
Heidi-the biggest mess is the floor which should be done tomorrow. Ian's been stressing over it but I think we made the right choice.
chrissy-we're having slow reno creep...the kitchen has migrated into the laundry and family rooms. Should be worth it though... but I think the upstairs bath and basement room for the kiddies are next - endless!
Audrey, we spent days worrying about the choice of kitchen sink alone! Now we're torn about the faucet - the FAUCETS!!
