Missing You

This is tough, no doubt about it.

I do NOT know how you bloggers out there who work out of the home manage to keep up with the blogging like you do. No disrespect to the SAHM and WAHM sisters, because I've done that too. But this is so difficult to do, and despite the fact that I'm exhausted half the time to even put a coherent thought together (I called my son's lunch bag this morning the brown thing, the red thing, and it's uh BLUE!) there is still this unmet need to keep up with this blog.

This blog, this space, has been SO much of my life in the past 4 plus years. It's become a part of me. And I'm missing it. And even more so, missing you.

So that's what I've got today. I'm trying to get out and visit you when I can, I love it when you continue to visit me and comment, and encourage me as I deal with this major transition in my life (what a year it's been). I appreciate and love all of you blog pals.

And here, for my pleasure probably more than yours, a video of a remake of John Waite's huge 80's hit, given a country twist in a lovely duet with Alison Krause. He's looking older, but still, not too shabby.

(My heart still belongs to the original, the one where I imagined myself to be the cute Asian girl in the video and I initially fell in love with skinny, pale white guys. I'm lucky I found one (sans swinging one earring, mind you) and married him. )

I had this thoughtful response composed in my head, but it's gone; I hope you are getting into the groove, and that it will soon become easier for you. :)

This is my life, every day. I have brilliant posts planned in my head and then sitting around and NOT thinking after working all day seems like the much better option.

If you figure it out, PLEASE let me know! ;)

Um...psssst. :) Those of us who "work" outside the home sometimes blog at work. I mean, there IS downtown....it's allowed, right? Okay, maybe not so much. It's better than trying to sneak in novel reading, right!?

Maintaining a blog requires balance - as in all things. It has to stay in balance with all your other duties and responsibilities. Sometimes, that means that blogging must take a back seat to other things - as one grows, evolves, changes over time, these things WILL happen. Go with the flow. If it needs to be there, blogging will achieve a new importance over time. If not - well, if nothing else, it means you're well and settled. Just don't disappear.

If I worked outside the home I would not be on the net nearly as much..there just is not enough time and energy...besides your hubby and kids are priority (and yourself!) and that is exactly how it should be!
Your readers will still be around...no worries!

Karen..I am laughing because I find myself having less time online when I am home ..hahaha.. I used to blog all the time at work.. and read (which I am doing now).. It will all come together.. I promise!!! And I will always be here to stalk you!! :)

HA! I have to agree with Kim. When I was at work, I could keep my laptop open almost all day, now that I'm home full time, I have to 'find' time to check in.

I hope the job is going well and that you're having fun. We miss you too.

Girl, I don't expect you to keep up! I barely do and I am at home and currently on hiatus from work. That will last only another week and then I'll be back full force. You know, procrastinating from work by reading blogs :)

I hope it's going well and I know you will find your groove (someone above said that!). Take care and we miss you but no pressure!

Love that song. Life can be hectic I know. Sometimes I don't know how I made it through raising two girls, working (with The Hubby), and going to school at the same time. It was a bit crazy and seems like a lifetime ago but made it through. Good luck.

Nice rendition of the song (I prefer the original though!)...Just do your best. Bloggers "disappear" for bits of time all the time; if you can only blog on Saturdays, do that. It's not supposed to be overwhelming: it's supposed to be fun!

BTW, I miss you too. :)

It's really hard to find the time - which is why I suck at comments and blogging has always been very part time! One day, life will be less juggling and more relaxing, right? Right?!

I can't imagine working full time AND trying to keep up with a blog.
I'm only doing part time + S.A.H stuff and I feel like I never get a chance to catch up with everyone.

It's okay, You'll find your rhythm. You'll also find a way to give jobs and control to others in your family so you can have time for you.

I thank God all the time that I don't have to work! And, this blog entry confirms it. But don't worry, it will all calm down in time and when it does, your loyal readers will still be here.

I'm SO with you. I miss making the blogging rounds, now that I am in a more demanding teaching role this year. It makes me sad. I pretty much only get to fragmenters (which takes a LOT of time on the weekend) and I miss the freedom of just visiting for visiting's sake. Hopefully, we'll both get a break soon :)

That's is why I have so few posts each month. At the end of the day - after work, after the chores and after the kids have gone to sleep, I sit in front of my laptop and stare blankly.

yep, i hear you. this was me last year at this exact time when i went back to work full-time. i ended up spending way too many nights up late and as a result i was constantly sick and so were the kids ~ yuck ... i started resenting everything! i'm glad you're easing off the online stuff and putting your extra time into time with the kids and sleep ~ that's much more admirable than feeling guilty and making your rounds on the blogs all week.

take care of you ~ you're going to figure it all out eventually.

Oh, Karen! I know what you mean! I'm still at home with the baby, as she hasn't reached 12 months of age yet. I'll soon be starting work again, but even though I'm at home with her, I have only posted 15 times on my blog last month and am finding it harder and harder to keep up with the blog. I can go for weeks without posting anything new. Sad really. I miss blogging, checking out everyone's blogs...I miss the camaraderie...
